CHARGE Recognition Award Winners 2021
Sandy and Philip Kurby have organized an annual 5k run/walk in honor of their son, Joshua, since 2008, raising over $250,000 for the Foundation. This past year during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sandy completed the Goggins 4x4x48 challenge—in which participants run four miles every four hours for 48 hours—as a personal fundraiser. She also is a member of the Fundraising Workgroup and helps with thanking the Foundation’s donors through social media.
“I am inspired to volunteer for the Foundation in order to keep my son’s memory alive,” Sandy says. “The CHARGE Syndrome Foundation has been such a great support system from early diagnosis to the passing of my son, and even today with things like “A Day to Remember.”
“The Foundation cares for each individual with CHARGE and their families,” Sandy notes. “It’s small compared to many other foundations, and I hope to help bring awareness to the Foundation and raise money for the many different programs, research, and support that is needed.”
