Nicholas’ Story

Nicolas was born with a bilateral cleft lip and pallet. He was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City on February 24, 1994. When I arrived at the hospital the next day I was informed that he has colabomas in both eyes, ebsteins TV anonymous of the heart, atresia of the caonal, mentally and physically retarded, a micro Penis and testicles recended. He is also profoundly deaf. When he was two weeks old he had to go in for a fundoplicatin. When he was two months old he had left cleft lip repair. Three days later when he went in for the suchers to be removed he went into cardiac arrest and was put on heart medicine. When he was 6 months old had right cleft lip repair. Numerous tunes put in his ears due to infections. When he was 15 months old he had pallet repair. I was always told he wouldn’t live past 7 years old.

He learned to walk at 7 years old, ride a adapted bike at 8 years old and ride a 4 wheeler at 18 years old. He had horse therapy for 9 years this past year. His horse therapy person passed away so we haven’t found a new one yet. He loves going jeep riding and camping. Nicolas has just turned 30 last weekend.
