Alden was diagnosed with CHARGE Syndrome during his 3 month NICU stay where he also had his first open heart surgery and gtube placement. He has since had more than 10 additional surgeries and so many scopes and minor procedures under anesthesia that we have lost count. Alden is deaf, visually impaired, and has heart, lung, and airway complexities, yet he is a very happy little boy who enjoys exploring and hugs. Alden enjoys attending preschool and participates in weekly therapies. He has a constant need for sensory stimulation, and he has 3 older siblings who are always willing to appease him with hugs, rides in his bumper car, and spins in his saucer.
Our CHARGE community is filled with some of the most inspiring individuals. They face incredible challenges daily with multi-sensory impairment and severe medical complexities, yet they still overcome and live with such joy.
