Tennessee – Jasmine Thompson

What do you want people to know about your family?

I’m a single mother to my 16-year-old son, Jakari. We’re originally from North Carolina but now call Knoxville, Tennessee home. I currently work at the Tennessee School for the Deaf, where I’m proud to support students and families in the deaf community. Jakari stays active and involved. He’s part of the Robotics Team, serves as the manager for the Varsity Football team, and participates in the Special Olympics at his school. As a family, we love spending quality time together. Some of our favorite activities include visiting theme parks, fishing, watching movies, and working on creative, artistic projects. These moments allow us to bond, have fun, and create lasting memories.

Why do you volunteer with the Foundation?

I currently work at the Tennessee School for the Deaf, and I believe the connections I’ve built there can help me access and share valuable resources for families of children with CHARGE Syndrome who are also deaf. In addition, my background in media equips me with the skills to assist in spreading awareness and providing information through various channels.

What activities do you/your family like to do?

My family and I love spending time together doing fun activities! We enjoy going to theme parks, fishing, watching movies, and doing creative, artistic projects. It’s important to us to make memories together while doing things that spark joy and imagination.
