Keith, Ashley, and Audrey Bentley
What do you want people to know about your family?
We are located in South Carolina as a military family. Keith is an Active Duty Marine who has served almost 8 years! This is our only duty station so far and we are loving it. I am a local Emergency Room nurse and love to help others on their worst days to get through it. Audrey is the most fun, giggly little girl who lights up any room she’s in. We love to go for bike rides or walks, and just enjoy each other’s company. Some of Audrey’s favorite things to do include playing with her toys, cuddling with dad, going to school, and taking funny photos and videos of herself on our phones.
Why do you volunteer with the Foundation?
I volunteered with the foundation because military support is not talked about enough. Being a military family, there have been many hoops we have had to jump through in order to keep Keith home and ensure that Audrey’s care is being taken into consideration. There are a lot of services and programs offered through the military that aren’t talked about that can make transitions a lot smoother. I’ve also been inspired by our current South Carolina Liaison who has made our life a better place! Watching how Ms. Minnie Lambert advocates and supports children through their transitions or supports the parents needs is incredible. She will never hear the words “No” or “We can’t accommodate that”. I would love to give parent’s that sense of stability that they are supported and loved throughout all of their journeys.
What activities do you/your family like to do?
Our family loves to be with one another. Whether we go to Disney World and show Audrey that magic of the world through traveling, or we just sit at home and wrap up in a blanket with a movie on. Audrey loves to be outside, so anytime we can go for a bike ride or walk in her walker we try and go. She’s still figuring out if she likes textures such as sand so the beach is hit or miss. Audrey also has an electric car she can sit and ride in that she LOVES, and those giggles she laughs are to die for! We try and keep Audrey’s life as interesting as we can, because that’s what these kids deserve.
