Who’s In Your Family?
Sam, Elliot, Sarah and Dave
What do you want people to know about your family?
Sam was born in 2002 with CHARGE Syndrome. He has a coloboma of his left optic nerve, is hearing impaired, had a cleft lip and palate and hypoplastic right heart, but most importantly is a ray of sunshine to all who are blessed to know him! His love of life is infectious and a guide for all to focus on what really matters! He is a great cartoon artist with a super fun sense of humor and the best party planner ever! Elliot is Sam’s younger brother by 5 years and a wonderful advocate for Sam as well as one who enjoys supporting other siblings in families with a member with CHARGE or other challenges. He loves school, cross-country and baseball. He dreams of being a pilot one day. Dave is a forester/wildlife biologist and Sarah is a family physician and director of the family medicine residency in our community.
Why do you Volunteer with the Foundation?
The ability to connect with and help other families with a loved one diagnosed with CHARGE whether that is through family to family support in shared experiences and challenges or connection with care and resources in our community.
What activities do you like to do?
We live in Maine surrounded by woods, lakes, rivers and mountains and love to play in the great outdoors – canoeing, hiking, fishing and hunting as well as growing Christmas trees and making maple syrup.
