As summer gets into full swing, many families are looking for ways to keep their children active, engaged, and having fun. We asked community members about their favorite summer time activities and products. Here are their responses:
Sydney Painter: Summertime is filled with all of Knox’s favorite things- being outside, floating in the pool, visiting the beach, and enjoying the splash pad. Even with his trach, he is able to safely enjoy all the things he loves. He is ready for all the fun this summer with his two little brothers, Crew and Tate!
Favorite products: Ryobi fan, mini swimming pool, trach safe water floats allowing him to be in the pool safely with a trach.
Lindsay Beyer: We use our Keenz wagon at rodeos. You can get a medical discount for it also!
Morgan Bell: Rowan loves his water table and his adaptive bike in the summer!
Lexi Gardner: One of the summer activities that Zayde loves is growing caterpillars into butterflies. My boys love bugs!
Norma Rodriguez: My daughter loves bouncing on her trampoline. She even likes bouncing without it — on your lap or on the floor — as long as she is holding onto something. She finds it soothing and relaxing.
The hammock is something she recently got into. She gets on and off independently without any assistance. She also leans on it to stand upright and uses it to balance herself independently. I noticed that when she has her body in the air and her face on the floor somehow it is the perfect sleeping position with no snoring!
The shopping cart is something new we are trying to use for balance and to help her get used to holding from the front position, compared to her walker where she holds from the sides.
