Logan’s Story

Logan Marty was born on October 26, 2021 in Rochester, MN. Logan was in the NICU for 3 weeks after birth, but we were fortunate enough to have him home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Shortly after, he was admitted to the PICU to help with some breathing and swallowing issues. He was diagnosed with CHARGE syndrome in February of 2022 and this diagnosis helped us understand his various obstacles he was overcoming. Logan got a tracheostomy in February and was getting ready to go home pending nursing. He got sick at the hospital in May and unfortunately passed away on May 22, 2022. He was a strong fighter who overcame so many obstacles and was a fun little guy who loved his toys, stroller rides around the hospital, and chatting with his nurse and doctor friends.

My husband and I love BBQ and do competitions throughout the year, we decided to host a memorial BBQ for Logan to raise money for the CHARGE Syndrome Foundation. Logan’s favorite toy was his fox, so we created a little mascot for our competition BBQ team (Marty Party BBQ). We hosted this on May 20, 2023 and had over 120 people attend. We were able to raise $5,700. We are planning to host this BBQ fundraiser annually to celebrate Logan’s life and to help further research and resources for those affected by CHARGE Syndrome.
