Lisa Weir

My name is Lisa Weir and I live in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada with my husband Graeme, sons Ryan and Kyle, and daughter Kennedy.  I became involved with CHARGE syndrome when Kennedy was born and diagnosed with it in 1998.  Since that time, I have been involved in a number of CHARGE-related projects in Canada and have been moderating the CHARGE Syndrome Listserv since 1999.

In March of 2007, it was my pleasure to join the Board for the CHARGE Syndrome Foundation as its first international director, and the Executive Committee in June, 2007 as secretary.  As chairperson for the Education Committee, I will be collaborating with professionals and families to develop and pursue goals that will hopefully make the educational experience a positive one for all individuals with CHARGE syndrome.  I am currently completing the final year of coursework for my concurrent arts and education degree program; afterward, I plan on doing a master's degree in special education.  My thesis subject will be the education of students with CHARGE syndrome in inclusive educational settings.
