The Foundation - Board Profile

My name is Lacey Friedman, I am from California and have one amazing 5-year-old little boy named Lucas. Like many children with CHARGE the first couple of years were very difficult, in fact the last few months of pregnancy were also difficult, with many fetal tests performed to determine the extent of Luke’s problems. After almost 4 months at Stanford’s Packard Children’s Hospital Lucas came home. Lucas has had 9 surgeries to date, including two open heart, two cochlear implant and recently, a G-tube closure! I am in awe of everything Lucas does! He is tough, funny and the light of my life.
I joined the CHARGE Syndrome Board of Directors because I realized that Luke’s good health was providing me with a little extra time and how better to spend that time, than helping others whose children were still medically fragile. I know that having CHARGE or being a parent of a child with CHARGE is not an easy road, but by helping each other, the journey can be much smoother!
